Cane wrapped around a drum recalls café chairs and old steamer trunks, and here the panels follow a gentle waist, narrower in the middle than at the top and base. The open weave lets a little of the room show through, so the table never looks heavy, even in a small corner. At 15.7 in across and 17.8 in tall, it sits a little below the arm of most sofas and chairs and close to the height of a low bed, so it also works as a compact nightstand. The small round footprint fits between a chair and a wall where a square table would not. At 10.6 lb, it is easy to move from room to room.
The top is rubberwood with a clear protective coat, the frame is solid wood and MDF in an ochre finish, and the panels are an imitation rattan cane. Wipe the top with a dry or slightly damp cloth, dust the weave with a soft brush, and keep it away from standing water. Assembly is straightforward, with illustrated instructions and all hardware included.
Does the top open on a hinge? No. It lifts straight off; set it aside, reach in, then set it back on the rim.
Is the cane natural rattan? No. The panels are an imitation rattan woven in the classic open cane pattern, and they wipe clean easily.
