The larger cone has a teardrop opening and a cushioned cave inside, a quiet spot for a cat to sleep beside you in the evening.

The cones are the point: a mid-century outline with no legs to bump into and no corners at shin height. Because the small table stands taller, its top slides over the large one, so the pair can sit nested in a tight living room or split up, the smaller one moving to the end of the sofa or beside the bed. Nested, the set takes up about the footprint of the large table plus the overhang of the small one. The large table at 15.8 in high lines up with most sofa seats; the small one at 17.5 in works as an end table or nightstand. The cave is sized for a cat that likes an enclosed bed.
The tops are MDF with a melamine wood-grain surface that wipes clean with a damp cloth; dry it afterward. The bases are carbon steel wrapped in a printed walnut grain. Shake out or vacuum the cushion regularly. Keep sharp objects off the tops, and use coasters for hot drinks.
