Look closely at this woven rattan table lamp and the column turns out to be an open lattice, crossed and banded like a market basket. Above it, a linen-look drum shade turns the bulb into a broad, warm wash that suits a bedroom or a sunny living room.
At a glance
The weave changes pattern as it rises, from diamonds to bands and back, so the column never looks flat. A slim black stem and finial add a single dark line between the natural fiber and the pale shade. It is the relaxed one among our table lamps, at home with oak, jute and washed cotton.
At 22.75 inches tall with a 12 inch drum shade and a 5 inch footprint, it is a full-size lamp that still fits a standard nightstand. On a dresser or console, two of them side by side make a calm, symmetrical pair, ordered as two separate lamps.
The column is woven natural rattan over a metal base; the shade is fabric with a linen-look weave. Dust the weave with a soft brush or the brush tool of a vacuum. Keep rattan away from standing water and direct radiator heat so it does not dry out. Use a lint roller on the shade.
