Set against pale bedding or a cream wall, these fluted black nightstands read as two crisp shadows on either side of the bed. Each one is a simple box on four straight legs, with a ribbed drawer front and a slim metal pull.
At a glance
The vertical ribs catch light at an angle, so the fronts change through the day, flat at noon and deeply lined under a lamp at night. The black finish shows a faint wood grain up close, which keeps it from looking like plain plastic. More bedside pieces live in our nightstands.
At 18 inches tall these sit lower than many nightstands, which suits platform beds and low frames. Measure from the floor to the top of your mattress; within a few inches of 18 is the comfortable range. The 19 by 15.5 inch top holds a lamp, a book and a glass of water, and the pair also works as end tables beside a sofa.
Each nightstand is engineered wood with a black wood-grain surface, PVC detailing and metal hardware, and the drawer runs on sliding rails. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry it straight away. Assembly is required.
