Set near a window or under a lamp, this fluted ceramic vase shows its best side in low light, when every rib casts a thin shadow down the body. A pale blue glaze covers the neck and shoulder, then thins and runs into a cream body cut with fine vertical flutes.
At a glance
The silhouette is an old one: a short collar neck, a broad shoulder and a body that narrows toward the foot. Where the blue glaze meets the ribs it breaks into streaks, so the line between the two colors is soft rather than sharp. At 9.6 in tall and 7.1 in wide, this is a tabletop vase rather than a floor piece. The 3.9 in opening takes a loose armful of greenery, a few garden roses or a bundle of dried stems.
The vase is ceramic with a glazed finish and a bare clay ring at the foot. Wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry. Set it on a mat or tray on finished wood to protect the surface from the unglazed foot.
Are the flowers included? No. The stems in the photos are styling only; you receive one empty vase.
Is it a floor vase? No. At 9.6 in tall it is sized for a table, shelf or console.
